“I am convinced that living in an enclave shapes the personality and living alone shapes the personality too.” -Mary Douglas
Today, there are many things associated with solitary living—both good and bad. At times it is known as a form of complete freedom and an excellent avenue for fending yourself and discovering more to your abilities. In some other cases, people would see it as total isolation and as a consequence, loneliness. However, living alone can mean differently for different people, it all depends on how they see it. If you have contemplated about leading a solitary life and live in a Bonifacio global city condo by yourself or elsewhere, here are some pros and cons that might help you arrive at a decision:
1.) No cleaning issues
One of the biggest drawbacks of living with others or with roommates is the cleaning issues that come with it. In a perfect world, everyone would be as meticulous about grime and clutter as you are. But as it is, your roommates or the people you are living with just do not see it that way. Living alone means you do not have to put up with the mess of others and would have only to clean up after yourself.
2.) You can enjoy the silence and solitude
One of the great things about living alone is that you have the place all to yourself. This means you have a calm and composed energy about your space and as a result, you will have more time to reflect and meditate. If you are the type to thrive on silence and meditation, then living alone is ideal for you.
3.) You can eat anywhere
One of the drawbacks of living with others is that there will always be an established set of house rules. One of those rules can be that food should only be allowed either in the kitchen and the dining room. This can be particularly challenging if you want to catch some TV shows while having a meal. Your roommates expect you to abide by the house rules and you would not likely want to unruffle some feathers by bending them. Living alone means setting your own rules and living the way you want to. If you wish to eat anywhere in the house, you can do so sans the lecture about cleanliness and appropriateness.
1.) Lack of company
If you are not the sociable sort, then this might be a good thing. But every now and then, you would need someone to talk to at the end of the day regardless of how much of a loner you are. This applies in particular if you had a long and bad day, are really stressed and just need to vent. You might enjoy living alone, but there will always come a time wherein you will crave for company and social interaction.
2.) Boring life
Having only yourself for company might seem exciting in the first few months or so, but after a while and when you get used to your routine, it can easily get dull and boring. Furthermore, when you stay alone in your place, you would quickly get bored by the same things you do as you lack the presence of others who enliven the space with their presence.
As you are living sans company for quite some time, loneliness can result. You would feel alone, and though some people might like this, it is not that easy for everyone. Living alone requires a greater will power from you to succeed and thrive in life. Overcoming that lonely feeling will need work as well, and in turn, you also need to be around people who make you feel comfortable in your life and your place.
