Paypal Philippines 101: How to Get Verified Using BPI ePrepaid MasterCard

Previously, we discussed how to get verified on Paypal Philippines via Union Bank EON card. On this post, we’ll look into how you can begin using your Paypal account through BPI debit card and avoid the hassle of going to different malls in the Philippines just to shop for your favorite music or games.

Four (4) Things You Should Know About BPI ePrepaid Mastercard.

  1. First reloadable MasterCard prepaid card in the Philippines. The term reloadable says it all. Unlike with credit cards where there is a tendency that you’ll overspend and reach your limit, you can monitor your budget with ePrepaid MasterCard. Load the amount that you’re going to use.
  1. Guaranteed 100% approval. One (1) valid ID, card processing charge of P500.00, an initial deposit of P150.00 for Paypal (amount is optional) are all that is required, and you’re good to go!
  1. No maintaining balance!
  1. The second debit card in the Philippines that allows Paypal verification. Aside from EON, BPI ePrepaid MasterCard is the only debit card that permits you to confirm Paypal application. As the card is mainly used for outgoing transactions, one downside is, you cannot withdraw Paypal funds into it. However, you can add your local bank account to do withdrawal so it’s still easy-peasy.

Step Two (2). Wait for five (5) banking days.

Step Three (3). Head over to your BPI Branch. Bring your form, one (1) valid ID and a photocopy of it as well.

Step Four (4). Pay the processing fee of P500.00.

Step Five (5). Make a primary deposit of P150.00. Paypal will automatically deduct $1.99 to confirm your account. It will be refunded when the verification process is completed.

Step Six (6). Claim your card. Enroll it to BPI Express Online. Note: If you have an existing online account on BPI already, they may do this on your behalf (depending on the branch).

Step Seven (7). Once active, proceed to Paypal. Create an account.

Step Eight (8). Once the sign up is done, there’s a link on the home page that says VERIFY. Click that. Then type in your BPI ePrepaid MasterCard details. Paypal will then ask for the 4-digit EXPUSE (expansion use) number.

Step Nine (9). Login to your BPI Express Online account to retrieve this information. You can also send a request via email to myeprepaid@bpi.com.ph using your 16-digit My ePrepaid Card Number.

Step Ten (10). Visit your Paypal account and enter the EXPUSE number. Verify.

  1. Right here is the perfect website for everyone who wants to find
out about this topic. You understand a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I personally would want to…HaHa).
You certainly put a fresh spin on a topic which
has been written about for a long time. Great stuff, just great.

  2. This is great! thanks for the information, it’s just what i needed. never was a fan of credit cards. lol

  3. Mind you guys, you cannot get your verification at myeprepaid@bpi.com.ph once you email them. I’ve already requested code to them for me to verify my account in paypal and it seems like their response doesn’t satisfies my mean. What I did is I went to the bank where I get my ePrepaid card. I queue at their customer service. The teller told that they don’t have access on my statement of account online. They adviced me to call the hotline of BPI 1-800-188-89100 to get for the code. And there I got it. As simply as that.

  4. Hi, why do I get the error message that the card(im using eprepaid as well) cannot be linked to additional paypal accounts? I have not had previous paypal accounts. Appreciate assistance on this, BPi customer service was not able to assist me. Thanks.

  5. Can you please post a step by step instruction on enrolling a bpi eprepaid master card in bpi express online. Thank you

  6. I also have a BPI my e-prepaid. But you can’t use this debit card to withdraw from the atm. Any balance in this debit card can only be used to purchase online or to stores with credit card terminals. And you can’t withdraw the amount even if you do it manually in the bank. Your money just stays there in the card unless you use it to purchase something.

  7. this is a cheaper alternative to Unionbank’s EON since the 500php processing fee is renewable every two years in the GMMA (it’s 600php for outside GMMA, and VisMin areas). I’ve been searching for easier alternatives on getting my paypal account verified, and I guess this is it.

Thank you so much for this post. It cleared all doubts about applying for a BPI eprepaid account. I already have an Easy Saver’s account with BPI and this will make reloading the eprepaid card easier.

  9. Very useful guide, this is perfect for existing BPI bank users. But if you are from a different bank and you don’t want to have to create a bank account on BPI just to verify your PayPal account, simply use the PayMaya app of Smart Communications, Inc. It’s straightforward and it’s free. Just follow these easy steps here https://pinoythings.wordpress.com

  10. This card is quite handy. I used it 2 years ago and I’m still using it now. If it expires, you don’t have to get a new card but just go to the nearest BPI local bank to renew your card. I think you need to pay 500 Pesos for renewal (thats how much I paid the last time). Cheers guys. 🙂
